Cost Accountant:

As the Cost Accountant for Socket Telecom, you will utilize your prior accounting experience to perform various duties and support business needs. You will coordinate with Socket's COO, Inventory Department, and others to analyze and forecast inventory and cost controls.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform job costing and expense analysis
  • Capitalize Assets for Socket Projects (such as fiber builds), Unity, and any other collection of assets
  • Maintain count and value in QuickBooks of Socket’s inventory and fixed assets
  • Track Depreciation of Socket’s Assets and report in QuickBooks Fixed Asset Manager
  • Help monitor financial side of Socket’s purchase order process
  • Analysis and forecasting of purchases to improve inventory readiness and capitalize on bulk discounts
  • Assist with month-end close and financial reporting
  • Oversee licensing and insurance of vehicle assets
  • Assist with documenting policy and procedure related to inventory, purchasing, and assets
  • Other miscellaneous duties as determined by the Controller

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in accounting, finance or business required
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years experience in accounting preferred, with 1 – 3 years experience in cost accounting and/or asset management functions preferred
  • Experience may substitute for degree requirement

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of accounting structure, policies, and procedures preferred
  • Clear, concise writing skills required
  • Organized and detail oriented and skilled at checking accuracy, completeness and consistency of data received and processed
  • Proven communications and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable with occasional price negotiation with vendors
  • Extensive knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel preferred
