Socket Commits To The ‘Keep Americans Connected Pledge’

March 16, 2020

(COLUMBIA, MO) – Last week, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai emphasized the importance of keeping Americans connected as the country experiences serious disruptions caused by the coronavirus outbreak. And in order to ensure that Americans do not lose their broadband or telephone connectivity as a result of these exceptional circumstances, he specifically asked telecommunications providers to take the Keep Americans Connected Pledge. The Keep Americans Connected Pledge reads as follows: Given the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on American society, Socket pledges for the next 60 days to: (1) not terminate service to any residential or small business customers because of their inability to pay their bills due to the disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic; (2) waive any late fees that any residential or small business customers incur because of their economic circumstances related to the coronavirus pandemic.

Socket is also increasing bandwidth for their customers. Residential fiber network customers will receive the fastest available speed of 1Gbps. Socket will automatically increase their speeds at no additional cost for the next 60 days. Socket is also working with business customers to find solutions for any increased bandwidth needs. They are taking these on a case-by-case basis and will support increasing speeds wherever possible. “We are committed to doing our part to help keep our community connected. We are hopeful this will better support businesses, individuals working from home, and students that need increased internet access during this time,” said Carson Coffman, president and COO of Socket.
