Socket expands fiber network in Jefferson City

Socket is proud to announce the expansion of its fiber-optic broadband network in Jefferson City to more than 200 additional area businesses.

The first phase of the expansion project is underway, where construction stretches from north of U.S. Highway 50 near Jefferson St. and extends south through the Old Munichburg area to Capital Region Medical Center. Following the completion of construction in that area, crews will then begin work on the second phase, along and near Missouri Blvd., between West Stadium Blvd. and Dix Rd.

Socket first brought its fiber-optic technology to Jefferson City in 2014 and has expanded its coverage area since. When this project is complete, Socket’s fiber network will reach more than 1,000 Jefferson City businesses.

“We’re excited to bring fiber technology to even more Jefferson City businesses,” said George Pfenenger, Socket CEO and co-owner. “Fiber offers businesses the fast, reliable connections necessary to thrive in today’s economy.”

With speeds up to one gigabit per second or even faster, fiber-optic technology is the fastest, most reliable connection available. Its large bandwidth capacity is considered future-proof and will accommodate increased internet usage for decades to come.
