Socket Ramps Up Fiber Internet Speeds

Area residents will now be able to access even faster Internet speeds from Socket, a locally based telephone and Internet provider.

The company, which has constructed a fiber-to-the-home network in Callaway and Boone Counties, increased its download speeds tenfold for residential fiber customers. Residents can now choose speeds of 100 Mbps, 200 Mbps or 300 Mbps. Current customers will also receive the speed boost at no extra cost.

Socket's owners say they decided to make the change after a successful launch of fiber phone and Internet services in the area. This growth required the company to purchase additional bandwidth for its network, which it then passed along to customers at no additional charge.

"We know everyone is constantly craving faster Internet speeds," said Carson Coffman, Socket president and co-owner. "This will really allow our customers to experience all the Internet has to offer, while still paying the same affordable rates."
