Socket donates 19 computers to local families in need

Columbia, Mo. - Socket, a Missouri-based telephone and Internet service provider, will deliver 19 computers to the Columbia Area Career Center on Friday, April 24, at 3:30 p.m.
 
Career Center students will refurbish the computers and donate them to families in need as part of an initiative called Repair It Forward.
 
Career Center students will use class time to make sure each computer is ready for use. Their work will include loading each computer with a Windows operating system and Microsoft Office products. Then, the computers will go to people or organizations in need. 
 
"It's a fatastic program that we're more than happy to support," said Carson Coffman, president and co-owner of Socket. "First, Columbia area students get hands-on learning experience on how to work with computers. Then, when they are successful, the students will give the units to local people who need them."
