Congratulations to Gary Smith, Business Fiber Technician, on being named Socket’s You-Make-The-Difference Winner for January!

Gary started at Socket as a Service Delivery Coordinator in 2017 after his friend Rick encouraged him to apply. In 2019, Gary was ready to get back out in the field which led him to become a Business Fiber Technician. In his current role, he installs new fiber services for business customers by bringing the fiber drop into the building, and then splicing the fiber to a terminal called an ONT.

One coworker that nominated Gary said “Gary is a very hard worker, and always has a great attitude. Taking care of the customer is his highest priority and he goes above and beyond to ensure they are happy with their installs. Gary truly exemplifies the core values at Socket.”

Gary is a huge fan of the summertime. You’ll find him outdoors boating and camping as much as he can! He’s also dog lover, as him and his wife recently adopted their third Labrador, Henry, who just can’t get enough ball playtime.

If you ask Gary what the best part about working at Socket is, he’ll tell you the same answer every time: the people and the customers. “Our customers are very important to me and I want them to feel like they’re getting top-notch service” says Gary.
