Chat Live with a Socket Representative
Now available online at Socket's My Account Site.

You can now chat live online with a Socket customer service or technical support representative when you have questions about your account. This means if you are already on Socket's website, or if you prefer to interact with us electronically, a representative is just a click away.

The service is available on Socket's My Account site (www.socket.net/myaccount). Here are a few tips to get you started:

  • Log in to Socket's My Account site. This customer website allows you to view services, pay your bill and much more. If you don't yet have a login, just give us a call at 1-800-762-5383 to set one up. You can also register using a Socket email address or username.
  • Click on the "Live Chat" icon. You'll find it on the upper right corner of the screen. If the icon appears in gray, this means live chat is not available because it is outside Socket's normal business hours (Mon-Fri 8:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. and Sat-Sun 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.).
  • Start or view a chat. Once you click on the icon, you'll have the option to view previous chat sessions or begin a new one.
  • Chat with a rep. Use the box to enter your questions for the rep. When you are done chatting, just close the window.

If at any time you would prefer to end a chat and speak to a representative, just give us a call at 1-800-762-5383.

We're excited to bring you a new way to ask questions and talk to our local Missouri people. We hope to chat with you soon!

Dear Techie: What are some tips for using the new Socket Webmail site?

As you're likely aware, we recently introduced a brand new Socket Webmail site (www.socket.net/webmail). If you still need a little help learning your way around, here are some tips to get you started:

  • Understanding icons. You don't have to click on an icon to see what will happen. Just hover your mouse over an icon to see the task associated with it.
  • Selecting or deleting multiple messages. As you go through your inbox, junk or other email folders, you may wish to select several messages at one time (for example, to delete or move them). Just hold down the Control key and click on the messages you wish to select. Or, use the "Select" tools in the purple bar under the message window to select all messages, unread messages or other options.
  • Delete messages without opening them. If you want to delete a message or multiple messages without opening or viewing first, simply right click the message and select "Move message to trash."
  • Sort messages.
  • To sort your messages by subject, sender, date or message size, just click the header above each section (i.e. Subject). To sort in reverse order, click the header again.

You can view an expanded help guide with these tips and more at www.socket.net/new-webmail-help.

We want to help you grow comfortable with the new Webmail site. Please call us at 1-800-762-5383 and we'll walk you through how to use it, as well as answer any questions you have.

Socketeer Spotlight: Sam Johnson, Business Center Analyst

Sam Johnson with Socket

Sam Johnson was chosen as Socket's You-Make-the-Difference-Award winner for January. He joined the Socket team in July 2010, beginning in residential technical support and transferring to our Business Center shortly after. He now helps answer technical questions and troubleshoot issues with Socket's business clients.

"Sam is always there to help in the Business Center, and he's a favorite agent for many of our business callers," said a fellow employee who nominated him for the award.

In his free time, Sam likes to be outdoors and enjoys going to concerts and spending time with friends. If you're looking for him, there's a good chance you'll find him at one of Columbia's downtown establishments.

"I'm quite honored to win the award," said Sam. "I always strive to do my best and help as many people as I can along the way."

Not sure what's wrong with your dog, cat, bird, reptile or fish? Check out this website for advice from vets as well as where to find care, clinics and pet services in your area.
